Overview
A web application researchers use to store and manage their data. I joined the team partway through, working on the frontend: new features, changes to existing ones, bug fixes and UI improvements. The team was eight-plus people across frontend, backend and design. Tasks came through Notion, and we met weekly as a whole team and again as the frontend group. I was on the project from November 2025 to April 2026; the system is still in use in the field.
Points
- Because the data was research data, I spent about two weeks reading up before I started. Without knowing what the data is for and how it moves through a study, you can build the screen but not the right screen
- I came into a large existing codebase, so before changing anything I traced how the pieces connected. Not breaking the other features was the starting condition
- Work came through Notion with deadlines, and I brought anything I was stuck on to the two weekly meetings rather than sitting on it
